Roof repointing and rebedding questions
What is the difference between rebedding and repointing?
Bedding is the mortar the ridge cap sits on. Pointing is the outer layer that seals the join. Loose caps need rebedding first; sound caps with cracked edges only need repointing.
Can repointing be done without a full restoration?
Yes. Repointing is often done on its own, or together with tile repairs.
